Iowa. As part of the application process, s/he must provide three recommendations. At least one of these recommendations
must be completed by an administrator who is knowledgable about the candidates performance and leadership potential.
The Educational Leadership faculty at the University of Northern Iowa develop and nurture reflective Leaders of Learning,
Service and Change, who make a difference in creating healthy schools and communities.

candidate's ability to improve student achievement through coordination of factors impacting equity, equality, adequacy, and efficiency
issues., and to reflect an understanding of research in teaching and learning and a willingness to apply.)
LEADER OF SERVICE (Assess candidate's involvement in community activities, moral and ethical character, ability to build
relationships that develop a common focus and vision and ability to collaboratively set goals and establish priorities for high student
achievement.)
LEADER OF CHANGE
(Assess candidate's ability to effectively establish and lead a culture of change, to engage the school
community in identifying needs and setting goals, to articulate research-proven instructional strategies advanced through professional
development for teachers, to apply and make changes in instructional practices, and to expect the best, promote accountability and
provide supportive feedback.)
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
(Assess candidate's ability to present facts and ideas clearly in borth oral and written form.)
CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (Provide examples of candidate's professional organization memberships
and activities; participation in district professional development activities; awareness of current readings and practices in schools, etc.)
