Attending a university is an eye opening experience for young people and this this the time when they get involved in different activities and clubs on campus as well as evolving into the adult they are going to become in our society. Last year in October the
Political Science department along with others conducted the WIU Election Survey which was presented in my Political Research and Analysis got me interested in, if there is a relationship between how the how politically active students are to how active they are active on campus. The research that I was interested in was to find out whether being active on campus have had an effect on the students political involvement. To conduct my research I read through the WIU election survey and using SPSS I was able to conduct the research. The two questions that I wanted to answered are; how politically involved students at WIU are? The second question that I wanted to answer is; are students who are involved in clubs or organizations are more likely to be politically active then students who are not? The reason why I created this research and why it’s significant is to have a better understanding of myself as well as my peers here at Western Illinois University.
