1. Approval of minutes – from October 11, 2010

2. Reports
a. NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative ~ Ann Woodrick
i. MVC Fall meetings in St. Louis Oct 24-26
1. Jill Lageschulte earned the MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award.
2. Creighton earned the Academic Excellence Award with a studentathletes posted a 3.33 cumulative grade-point average over the 2009-10
academic calendar.
3. South Dakota State on the MVFC Academic Award
4. Special Olympics partnership with the Valley – involvement with MVC
Championships and public relations component
5. Elite 18 award (modeled around NCAA Elite 88) Awarded to one male
and one female. This would include the top academic participant in the
conference championship.
6. APR –top 10% in Division I
a. UNI: Tennis & Volleyball
b. 9 out of 10 schools in the MVC recognized. Bradley-6,
Evansville-5 and Creighton-4.
c. UNI – 2010 APR rate; men’s track & field and cross country are
lower than MVC average. Softball is lightly lower (970 – 4yr)
d. Discussed about FAR as neutral/s-a advocate on appeals policy.
ii. Academic Cabinet – Division I
1. 2-4 transfer legislation. Research indicates that 2-4 transfers below 2.6
GPA are more likely to not succeed academically. They are better off
if they take fewer PE credits; additional science. Legislation
discussions about increasing transfer GPA; year of readiness.
2. Non-traditional courses: from certifying institution to meet PTD and
full time enrollment and from another institution to meet PTD.

3. FLAG risk data
a. Academic Advising put together to identify risk student athletes.
They will provide them with resources to help them succeed.
b. Department of Athletics
i. Athletic Director – Jean Berger for Troy Dannen
1. Certification update
a. Completed Title IX review and received draft of report
i. No surprises in results- need to make changes in
participation numbers, female coaches vs. male coaches,
salaries & recruiting dollar difference
b. Sub committees are meeting
c. On tract for rough draft available in Jan. 2011
d. Final copy due April 24th, 2011
2. Updating Athletics Hankbook
3. Hosting MVC Volleyball tournament is Thanksgiving weekend -11/2511/27 – UNI will play on Friday night and hopefully in championship
game on Saturday. UNI is in the top 13th in attendance.
4. UNI did bid to host 1st & 2nd round of NCAA VB
5. UNI did bid to host 1st football play-off game
6. Reviewing a our book policy
a. Looking into owning our own book library to save money
7. Academic Wall of Honor – will be located on the wall above the North
Dome Suite Offices
a. This will recognize academic accomplishments of student
athletes, team GPA…etc.
8. New for Fall 2011 – Athletics will not be doing planners. Instead we
will provide flash drives with information included.
ii. Academic Advising – Kara Park
1. Mid-term grades are in. Some sports are better than others
iii. Director of Compliance - Daren Koudele
1. Signing day is the Wednesday. Sports include volleyball, softball,
women’s basketball, swimming and wrestling. 26 letters were sent.
2. Preparing for the Compliance Audit which is 11/30 – 12/02. Bond,
Schoeneck & King will do the Audit.
3. Next Wednesday is the next Compliance Ed Session.
c. Old Business
i. Student-Athlete Appeals Policy
1. No discussion – Policy Approved!
ii. IAAC Structure and Responsibilities
1. Looked at the make-up of council – voting and nonvoting members
2. Including faculty-faculty senate could elect someone to be on IAAC.
3. Jean and Lisa will attend faculty senate meeting on 12/13 and present
idea.
d. New Business
i. Discuss proposed Practice and Competition Scheduling Policies
