3. 2011 NSF Budget
More than 125 associations and universities in
the Coalition for National Science Funding
(CNSF) have endorsed a letter to key House and
Senate appropriators urging them to provide
$7.4 billion to the National Science Foundation
in FY 2011. The Obama Administration
requested $7,424.4 million for NSF for FY 2011,
an increase of $551.9 million or 8.0 percent
over the previous year.

Republicans have vowed to block President
Barack Obama's plan to limit greenhouse gas
emissions and reject state laws with a similar

5. Ralph Hall (R-Tx) moves to lead Science
Panel
Hall, who represents a rural district east of Dallas,
came to Washington as a conservative Democrat
in 1981 and switched parties in 2004. He is in is
16th 2-yr term and at 87 is the oldest member of
Congress.

6. Data Management-ESSENTIAL for NSF

Beginning January 18, 2011, proposals
submitted to NSF must include a supplementary
document of no more than two pages labeled
“Data Management Plan”. This supplementary
document should describe how the proposal
will conform to NSF policy on the dissemination
and sharing of research results. See Grant
Proposal Guide (GPG) Chapter II.C.2.j for full
policy implementation.
