Primarily, it seems the students need to be reminded even more frequently as to (1) the purpose of the course, and (2) more exactly how to make a stronger connection between the lives and work of the people studied and their own lives, regardless of occupation. 21. Whatisthenatureoftheplannedactions(pleasecheckallthatapply)? • Curricular • Pedagogical XXXResourcebased:we are making progress on getting reliable internet connections in all the classrooms, so I am thankful for that toofrequent frustration becoming less prevalent; lecterns in good condition do not seem to be a given; some (large-lecture) classrooms would benefit from some kind of sound-amplification system for the teacher AND for students who are leading a class segment or responding to a question. • • XChangetoCLOorrubric:My experience with the students personal • • Changetoassessmentmethods Other:_________________________________________________________________ responses and my commitment to transformational, not just informational, teaching have led me to make sure that I give them much more than seeing “self-expession” in art or having subjective reactions. At the end of the day, there needs to be more of an answer to the question, “So what”? I think they are much more likely to engage the subject if, as a result, they leave the class with concepts, principles, and examples they can apply in making their own lives their greatest work of art. I think that finding real “meaning” in art and the lives of those who create that art all is the most rewarding route to genuine understanding. 19 IhadtodoseveraladdendumsasdatacameinfromadjunctsinMay.Thislastassessmentcamein duringJune.Ipastedthemintothebackofthedocumentastheycamein.
