Here’s to a great rest of 2014! Thank you to all of the participants of the 19th Annual golf tournament on May 19, at Texas Star golf course in Euless, TX. The event was attended by approximately 130 players (34 teams) and netted the SC Chapter $6,297 versus anticipated budget profit of $4,000! Awards included two flights’ 1st place teams, two long drive awards and four closest to the pin awards plus recognition to the last place team. The awards Banquet was attended by around 100 players where all of the sponcontinued on page two message from the president continued from front page sor support plus the entire SC Chapter Board were recognized. rience with colleagues who are thinking of joining. The next chapter event will be the reschedule of the event at the Round Rock Express Minor League Baseball Park, just north of Austin on Thursday, July 31, 2014. We have reserved the Picnic Area and also have reserved seats for the game. The cost will include tickets to the game and food and drinks during the game. We will also be raffling off a copy of: ISPE Guide: Biopharmaceutical Process Development and Manufacturing. This should be a really fun evening! Upcoming ISPE National events include the ISPE Annual Meeting coming up Oct. 12-15 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The venue set-up will be different than the last time, so come join us for this great event. Also mark your calendars for the new Pharma EXPO in Chicago, Nov 2-5, 2014. Co-located with PACK EXPO International at McCormick Place, this is a new event designed to connect pharmaceutical, medical device manufacturers with the packaging, processing and other supply chain technologies. I also invite you to take a look at the ISPE.org website to check out the Communities of Practice (COPs). These are an excellent resource for connecting with other professionals that may share your experience, but perhaps are not located nearby. Chapter elections are coming up in August. There are several positions available for the next year. Please contact one of the board members or me, if you would like more information about the commitment, responsibilities and rewards of being a chapter officer. We would love to have you join the board! In closing, I would like to thank you all for your continued participation in the South Central Chapter. We do have a very geographically broad and industrially diverse chapter and it is all of you that make it truly unique and enjoyable. We have had the opportunity to meet and work with many of the new Young Professional (YP) members at various events. In addition, our chapter has been recognized nationally for our increased number of YPs joining the chapter. There has been some interested expressed in having their own programming and we look forward to seeing what fun events they plan! Don’t forget to check out the page on ISPE.org dedicated to YP’s, too! (If you are interested in helping to coordination YP events, please contact me.) Shannon Winters Goodson This year, we are in a competition with the other chapters to increase and maintain membership in the South Central Chapter. Categories include largest number of members joining or renewing membership, most YP’s joining the chapter and the most attendees at National Meeting. Prizes include funding for future chapter events. I encourage you to make sure you have renewed your membership for the year and share your ISPE expe- propharmagroup.com 2 cyc n le • O e P dv ro c fi ie n c y • A d E ng • C o n ti n ui S k il e L if s ea e • In cr f ro ere • P • Fle xible nal • The Chapter board is looking for some • A n y ti m e motivated members who would like wh mp ny CEUs • Co ls e n s iv • n a ti o in g E d uc re h e• sio li n e • C o n ti a e n l c w e m e nt • K n o n li ti o n • O • L if e c y cl e dg es uc a ne nu Call For Officers • A to serve on the South Central Board of Seeking practical GMP solutions to meet regulatory requirements?
