TEAS® unofficial results will be submitted

Chabot will offer the test in twice in Fall

NCLEX pass rate 96-100% for past 10 years.
Accepts 40 Students each Fall semester
(August).
Full time program Monday thru Thursday with
some evening and Friday rotations.
Friday the skills lab is open for practice.
Merit Based Admission (Criterion Score 100 pts)
since 2013, New for F2016 – lottery selection
of top 1/3 of the merit based selection.

Background and Drug Screening


Hospitals are requiring that nursing students complete
the following which is required of all employees

A social security number is required.

All students must complete a background check for
convictions of any crime (misdemeanor or felony) AND a
10 panel urine drug screen.

Must notify nursing program director if you have any
convictions

Depending on the conviction, the hospital may deny a
student’s access.

If you have something in your past please get it
expunged before applying.
If a drug screen is POSITIVE for non-prescription drugs
you will not be eligible for the program.
PREREQUISITES


Your are required to complete all pre-requisites
prior to applying the nursing program.

Fall 2016 – RN(Generic) December 31, 2015
 Fall 2015– LVN – July 31, 2015



You may only earn one “C” in the combined
science pre-requisites. Science GPA required
2.5. Only one “W” or failing grade may be
repeated.
There is NO RECENCY requirement for any
courses completed. As long as you attended an
ACCREDITED COLLEGE.

Sciences 4-5 sem units with lab
 Anatomy 1
 Physiology 1
 Microbiology 1
Fixed Courses

English 1A or Equivalent C-ID: ENGL 100

Sociology 1 C-ID: SOCI 110

Psychology 1 C-ID: PSY 110

Communications 1, or 10 C-ID: COMM 110 or COMM 130
To verify eligible courses look for the California
ID or C-ID number. OR check Assist.org
Combined Science Classes
If taken as a combined Anatomy and
Physiology, the course must have an “A” and
“B” or “1” and “2” AND must be taken at
the same college /university.
 Some combined courses are not eligible




Example: Chabot Biology 50 is a combined A&P and
will not meet the nursing requirement.
If taken it does not count as repeat

TRANSCRIPTS

An official copy of ALL college transcripts must be
submitted with your nursing application packet.

Except Chabot College or Las Positas College—we
have transcripts from coursework taken at either
college.

Important: Dates on your application must match
exactly to your transcripts. Date entered, and
semester courses taken.

Review your transcripts for accuracy. They can
not be corrected AFTER submitted.

Hand carried transcripts or applications will not
be accepted.
International Transcripts
If you have been educated in a country outside the
US, you will need to have your transcripts
officially evaluated by an evaluation
agency….see a counselor for information.

Top 1/3 will be entered into a randon
lottery. 40 applicants and 50+ alternates
will be selected and notified.

Example: if 300 qualified applicants the
top 1/3 or 100 go into a pool and 40 are
randomly selected


TEAS:
Test of Essential Academic Skills

This is a normed, standardized predictive
test which examines concepts in basic
English reading and comprehension,
scientific reasoning, math, and spelling and
punctuation.

Similar to an SAT test just different topics

