III. Approval of Minutes
A. Review of draft minutes; no further revisions or changes suggested. Cindy
Stubblebine moved to approve the minutes for both dates. Katrin seconded the
motion.
a. August 27, 2015 – 9 yes; 4 abstentions; approved
b. September 3, 2015 – 12 yes; 1 abstention; approved
IV. September 8th Flex Day debrief
A. Evaluations – still collecting from workshop facilitators. Will send to VP
Thompson when all have been received and she will work on having someone
compile for the committee to review (similar to what she prepared for College
Day evaluations). Complied data from evaluations will be posted on the
Professional Development website.
B. Other anecdotal feedback:
a. Curricunet – highly attended; some people were turned away because
room was at capacity. Very different levels of experience, and one
suggestion for the future is to offer multiple sessions, one geared
towards Basic/Beginner level and another for Intermediate/Advanced
users. Christine mentioned that there are some faculty who will need
Curricunet training before the 10/16 Flex Day to complete Program
Review. VP Thompson will ask Jane if she can hold some sessions in
room 130.
b. Outlook – also needs to be leveled based on user abilities; appreciated
that it was offered in computer lab as it needs to be interactive.
c. Website/Sharepoint – would like on-going leveled training.
d. A&R – prefer to be added back to New Faculty Orientation in order to
hit target audience and provide information in advance of time-sensitive
deadlines (opening day roster, census, etc.). However, great that there
were many faculty who came on Flex Day. Offer another session in Oct.
or maybe Jan. and specifically invite new faculty (although open to all
faculty)
e. Other discussion items:
i. Videoing training – would be great if Jane’s Curricunet training
had been videotaped for those who were unable to get into her
workshop. Is there a way the campus can work on creating video
trainings for Curricunet, ClassWeb, etc.? Christine proposes
that the committee starts thinking about ongoing training and
development needs after the October Flex Day.
ii. Part-time/evening faculty – often miss out on Flex Day activities;
is there a way to include them? Videoed training sessions might
help.
C. Discussion of possible sessions for 10/16 Flex Day
a. Bookstore – information for faculty
b. Sara Parker – sabbatical brown bag
c. Rachel LePell – Voice & Body
d. Carla Walter – marketing courses
e. Faculty info session – load sheets, payroll (overload, etc.), assignment
sheets, CAH, etc.  need to identify facilitator (Kathy to work on this)
f. Program Review – discipline time in the afternoon, workshops
facilitated by Deonne/VP Willis on budget spreadsheets
g. VP Willis – general budget session
h. Curricunet – Rob? (VP Thompson to check)
i. PERS/STERS overview and individual sessions – pre-registration needs
to be required for the individual sessions (Kathy to check)
j. Emergency/Disaster Preparedness – connect to the Great Shake-out the
day before, 10/15 (VP Thompson, TJ)
k. Ken – health
l. Michael Thompson – educational apps and how to use them in your
classes
m. Michael Booker – Family Feud game with different programs/areas
V. October 16th Flex Day Agenda Items
A. Faculty info session – perhaps Angela could help with the load sheet piece,
Rhiz, Paulette? Stacy and Kathy to continue to work on this.
B. Kathy is working with HR on PERS/STERS. Unlikely that STERS will be able
to come out – extremely backlogged. PERS more likely to be able to come.
C. Other suggestions:
a. Division meeting with Counselor liaisons – could be Flex
activity or could take place at another time
b. Coordinated mingling
c. Ken Williams – Master Teacher
d. Kristin Land – FIG
D. Rachael will send out Google Form to campus, inviting interested
parties to submit Flex Day Presentation Request. Co-chairs will work
on bringing draft of agenda to next meeting so we can start planning
and putting day together.
Meeting adjourned 3:00pm.
