RULES AND REGULATIONS
The following Rules and Regulations are to provide the act and all group
members with guidelines to prevent disqualification. If any of these Rules or
Regulations is broken, the act will be disqualified.
All group members must be currently enrolled Texas Tech students;
Music must be submitted for the application to be considered
complete. Music can be submitted on a CD or a USB. Please label the
CD or USB with the Act/Group Name;
You may perform covers, but you must give credit to the original artist.
No inappropriate or profane lyrics or dancing will be allowed. Any
lyrics or dances deemed inappropriate result in disqualification;
Costume, equipment, instruments, music, and props must be present at
Dress Rehearsal or they will not be allowed to be used on performance
night. Act should be performed at Dress Rehearsal exactly as it will be
performed for the event – including all costumes, props, equipment,
instruments, music, and group members;
If you have props that could be considered weapons, the act will need
permission from Student Union & Activities Associate Director,
Jon Mark Bernal. Please email Margie Olivares, TAB Night Life
Coordinator at margie.olivares@ttu.edu with questions or concerns;
Absolutely NO glitter will be allowed.
STAGE, EQUIPMENT, INSTRUMENTS, MUSIC, & PROPS
Allen Theatre stage measures 50x30
Act is limited to seven (7) minutes, plus 1.5 minutes for setup and 1.5
minutes for take down.
Equipment, instruments, and props must be approved by the Tech
Activities Board. Please list all equipment, instruments, and props on
the application, regardless of whether they will be provided by your
group or Tech Activities Board.
PROVIDED EQUIPMENT
Auditions, Dress Rehearsal, & Day of Show:
Microphone/Microphone Stand
Ability to play accompanying music submitted on a compact disc (CD)
or USB flash drive.
Dress Rehearsal & Day of Show ONLY:
Stage Lighting
Piano
JUDGING
Judging will be based on the criteria of showmanship, technique, originality
and crowd response. Acts are invited to audition on March 2, 2016. Up to ten
(10) acts will be invited to perform at Red Raider Showcase on April 14, 2016.
PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded at Red Raider Showcase to first place and second place.
1st Place: FREE textbooks each undergraduate semester until
graduation!

2 Place: $500 Barnes & Noble gift card!
[For acts with more than one member, the value of the prize awarded will be
divided between act members.]
LIMITATIONS
The Tech Activities Board (TAB) is a Texas Tech University student
organization so please keep in mind that all acts represent both TAB and the
University. All acts should adhere to The Code of Student Conduct. Please
note that TAB reserves the right to have the final say and end any performance
that is deemed inappropriate. No derogatory language, lyrics, or any other
offensive or illegal representations will be tolerated. Failure to comply with all
rules and regulations will result in disqualification.
OTHER INFORMATION
Any participant found to be under the influence of alcohol or other
drugs will result in disqualification of the entire group and will be
referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
For submission to be considered complete, please include the
completed application and any accompanying music on CD or USB, if
necessary.
