Production Meeting Report (Les Miserables)
Date of Meeting: 2/18/2014
In attendance: Angie, John, Mike, Brenton, Tim, Nathan, Greg, Kevin, Joy, Alison,Virgil, David Ramos*
REPORTS:
Scenic- Tim and John met earlier in the day to discuss some set/staging issues. (John will discuss
in his report). The stage will be ready for us to move upstairs on Sunday. Most of the wings will be
up by then.
Nathan is going to see if Matt (Chinchilla) can come in on Sunday (March 9th). He is going to check
after the meeting (it could have a bearing on Orch rehearsals and the tech week schedule)
Props – John handed out an updated props list. I will be giving Joy a list of character “stories” from
the Beggars number which will add some props. I will give Angie the same list. We will be looking
for someone to run props. Mandy Struss-Arthur will be helping gather/build props.
Costumes – Angie continues to plug along. She should have the leads done mostly taken care of by
the end of the week.
Stage Manager - I will be asking Robert Uy for a schedule of availability as well as one from Susie
Irish so we can coordinate some stage battle rehearsal(s). I have a fairly complete list for a crew. I
will be checking conflicts and absolutely confirming who we have by the next meeting. We should e
able to “borrow” Lisa (currently a dresser) for much of Act II for shifting if needed.
Director – John shared the results of his meeting with Tim. The bridge for Javert’s Suicide will
come down close to the floor. Through lighting and staging we will give the impression of him
jumping to his death without having to worry about harnesses or broken bones. The Thenardiers
will be popping up from trap doors as opposed to from a sewer grate. There are also some changes
in platforms.
We are doing the publicity photo shoot on Saturday March 8th from 9:00 until 10:00 (actors called
earlier for costumes and make-up/hair). I have the list and will confirm everyone’s availability.
Because Kevin is helping build and Mike will be gone after March 7th, we need some extra help at
rehearsals. This may be someone who is already on crew or someone else. Greg will start looking
and we welcome suggestions.
Music –We confirmed the orchestra rehearsal schedule. The following is the schedule for orch
rehearsals- March 8th, 9th, 10th. On the 11th they will work with Matt from Chinchilla (orch only-no
singers). Sitz probe will be March 12th. We will need to start these in the evening because of show
in the Kate Goldman. We have a band (still having trouble getting a violist and it sounds like we do
not have a bass).
Choreographer- We will be adding a waltz rehearsal on Sunday before and after the scheduled
rehearsal. (5:15 the couples PLUS the Thenardiers and after rehearsal, which should be no later
than 9:00, we will run with the couples and Marius/Cosette).
Sound- Virgil plans to watch Act I run tonight. He will also watch full run on Friday and start
hanging lights on Saturday.
Assistant Director- Mike’s last rehearsal will be March 7th
Mike can provide 4 mics and also has 2 stands.
Next Meeting – Tuesday February 25th at 4:30 in the loud room (Greg will not be there)
