Congruence
1. Peruse the Utah Core to read the description of school geometry.
2. Read geometry sections for grade 7 and 8 then congruence sections in high school
standards.
3. Deļ¬nition of congruence: Triangles ABC and A B C are congruent if and only if
there is an isometry f : R2 → R2 such that f (A) = A , f (B) = B and f (C) = C .
4. Prove SSS: Triangles ABC and A B C are congruent if and only if the corresponding sides have equal lengths.
5. Prove SAS: Triangles ABC and A B C are congruent if and only if two corresponding sides have equal lengths and the angles they determine have equal measures.
6. Prove ASA: Triangles ABC and A B C are congruent if and only if two corresponding angles have equal measuers and the side they share have equal lengths.
