UBUS 101. BUSINESS DISCIPLINES AND ISSUES (1). Designed to provide students
with an understanding of the various disciplines in business by focusing on current
business issues through readings and with speakers from business and faculty. May be
repeated to a maximum of 2 semester hours. S/U grading. Not available for credit for
upper-division business majors.
Rationale: In future semesters it will be proposed that UBUS 101 will be offered as part of a Themed Learning
Community and to offer the course for a grade is desired.

360. COACHING AND MENTORING (1). Exploring and practicing the skills needed to develop
and change others through effective coaching and mentoring. Topics include developmental
coaching and mentoring, personality differences and coaching effectiveness, ethical dilemmas in
coaching and other concepts that influence the development of effective coaching and mentoring
abilities. Students in this course will have the opportunity to coach peers throughout the semester.
May be repeated to a maximum of 3 times. CRQ: MGMT 335 or consent of department.
Rationale: Course will provide business students with the skills needed to develop as managers and leaders and
develop skills related to effective coaching and mentoring of team members and employees, enhancing their own
leadership in the process. With an in-depth understanding of fundamental coaching and mentoring concepts and
strategies and tools, students will be able to help future employees develop new capabilities, build employees’ skills
to solve problems, and develop leadership abilities.
With regard to duplication: Review of catalog for courses in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling and Adult Higher
Education revealed no potential for duplication.
