The Goodin scholarship is awarded to current sophomore through senior Cell & Molecular Biology majors. Goodin scholarships have a value of at least $1,000 per year, and can be renewed once. A new personal statement and letter of recommendation, along with most recent transcript, are required for renewal. The Landwer scholarships are granted on the basis of merit and financial need to majors in the Department of Biological Sciences (current sophomores through seniors) who have taken or are taking BIOL 1403 (students with the equivalent of this course elsewhere also qualify). Submission of a FAFSA is required for consideration. Awards will be for one year and can be renewed for a second year. Chances for renewal increase if awardee actively participates in undergraduate research in the life sciences. Usually, ten awards are available, each valued at $1,500/year. A new personal statement, letter of recommendation, and new FAFSA along with most recent transcript, are required for renewal. Scholarships are valued at $1,000, and are nonrenewable. Apply The J. Harvey Harris Scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate students majoring in Microbiology. Selection is based on academic merit and leadership. Dollar amount is variable, and is nonrenewable. Apply The John Burns scholarship is awarded to Freshmen through Senior majors in Biological Sciences who are first-generation college students with GPA of at least 3.0 and financial need. Submission of a FAFSA is required for consideration. The Burns scholarship has a value of $1,000 per year, and can be renewed up to three times. Renewal requires a new personal statement and new FAFSA, along with most recent transcript. Apply for the first time Renewal The Bill & Marybeth Stevens scholarship is awarded to sophomores through seniors majoring in Biological Sciences who are Texas residents and have a GPA above 3.25. Dollar amount is variable, and is nonrenewable. Apply The Ayers scholarship is awarded to majors in the Department of Biological Sciences (current freshmen through seniors) who have a GPA between 2.0 and 3.5, and are working toward a career in teaching.
