Notes were very through. The notes were very helpful for working on homework problems. The professors teaching order was better then the book layout. I didn't like how the math book represented some of the formulae, but for the most part it was adequate. I was disappointed in the classroom environment. For a good part of the semester the lighting was atrocious (with several of the lights burned out), and it took a few weeks for anything to be done about it. I would like to see my student funding used to repair something as simple as light bulbs with more expediency. Most students learned a lot of this content in high school. I believe the class should be focused more on matrices and logrithms, which are typically not covered intensively in high school. I found it effective that the tests and quizzes were very reflective of the material he had covered in class. I was also benefitted by the reviews that held before the exams and quizzes. Very great! The instructor lectured on most of the material and the book taught the rest of what I didn't understand or pick up on in the lectures. Very well organized! The teacher really made sure the students understood the math. He really cared about the subject and the success of his students. The structure of taking a quiz almost every week was helpful when it came to test taking time, but maybe a study group session before tests would be helpful. he explained the course very well. answered questions thouroughly and without acting put-out the ourse content was refelcted in the tests and quizzes, but the book was a little confusing. I think the method of teaching was inefficient and should find a better way of communicating to the class for a better learning experience Homework should not be suggested it should be handed in for grading and should count as part of the grade. It was nice that the instructor drops quizes and one test. good content and dhelpful PRESZLER,JASON ISAAC: List two things about this instructor that were effective for your learning, or make constructive suggestions for improvement. The instructor was very knowledgable of the subject, but I felt subject matter was being taught in a more dificult way then it needed to be. There usually seemed to be easier ways to complete problems. I felt the instructor did many examples which was beneficial before quizes and tests. I felt that Mr. Prezsler's instruction represented a thorough knowledge he had for the subject. However, I felt that sometimes he chose a more abstract way of explaining mathematics. His delivery was solid, but sometimes I felt that his instruction was awkward for intermediate math students. Also, I was disappointed with the amount of scruitny over grading of quizzes and tests. There were times when I came up with the correct answer, but I was docked points because of trivial notation errors. I did, however, appreciate his leniency in dropping lower quiz and test scores. Also, the final test (not exam) reflected a 24 of 50 average. I felt that this wasn't just an inadequacy on the part of students, but that perhaps there was a fallacy in coverage of the material in order to reflect such a poor performance. In summary, Mr Preszler taught the subject representing expertise, but his grading and complexity in explanation were lowlights to the course. Instructor should not assume that students understand every part of every problem. He should try explaining why he is doing certain calculations rather than just doing the math himself without covering the steps. I liked the fact that he would show us where the formulas cam from intead of just giving them to us. I also liked the fact that he was meticulous in showing every step when he did a sample problem on the board. Very smart instructor. I really liked how he would always give historical insights to mathematicians to even out the numbers. Persented the material in a way that I could understand it. I felt bad when people would get up and walk out of his class during his lectures. I know people can only handle so much math, but sit at the back if you want to sneak out. I thought that this teacher was good because he made sure that he had presented the material effectively nad then he left it up to you to do the work. The teacher was always willing to help students. He was one of the best teachers i've had throughout my education. The notes and problems we went over in class were clear and effective. He seemed to have a very extensive understanding of the course material. he was an excellent teacher, but he wasn't very sympathetic to my request to take a quiz 2 days early so i could attend the funeral of my late aunt. instead he said that i had to choose between hurting my grade or missing my aunt's funeral. i was shocked that i had to make that decision and feel that i was wronged the instructor could use a different teaching method that is easier to follow, and he often showed the hardest possible way to do the problems, when there was a much easier way. his notes were sometimes unclear, and i often had to get help from other books, old notes, or the internet. I suggest a better way of communicating math processes and methods. Instructor went off on insignificant tangents. good instructor and helpful in betterunderstanding propblems
