Sacajawea Elementary School Hallway Teach To’s Goal: 1. Quiet and orderly hallway behavior. Rationale: 1. To promote safe and quiet passage through hallways to designated areas. 2. To shorten the time necessary to go to and from designated areas. Expected Hallway Behavior: 1. Keep hands, feet, and objects to self. 2. Keep mouths and bodies quiet. 3. Students are to walk facing forward in a single file line on the right-hand side of the hallway at all times. 4. Class lines stop at corners and wait for teacher’s signal to continue. 5. Stay a forearm’s length apart from the person in front of you. 6. The first student in line serves as the door holder for their class and then rejoins their class by going to the end of their line. Positive Walks with quiet hands feet and quiet hands. Voices off. Walks facing forward in a single file line on the right hand side of the hallway. Stops at corners and waits for teacher signal. Smiles or waves. First student in line is the door holder and then goes to the end of the class line. Be a good role model for other students. Negative Touching walls, people or things. Talking/laughing in line. Walking backwards. Does not stop at corners. Not listening to teacher direction/signal. Says “hi” or gives a “high-five” when passing other people in the hallway. Returns to the front of the class line after holding the door. Huge wave. Almost-But Not Quite Hand and feet outside of personal space. Whispering in line. Walks in the middle of the hallway. Zigzagging while walking. Stops at corners, but doesn’t wait for teacher signal. Returns to the middle of the class line after holding the door. Medium wave.
