Texas Tech awarded USDA grant for new carbon cycling focus
A leading research scientist from Texas Tech University’s Department of Plant and Soil
Science and her team have been awarded a $200,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture
(USDA) grant to study how carbon cycles through large-scale agricultural systems. more »

Raising the Bar: CASNR rolls to near record enrollment
Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources reached a benchmark
in student enrollment with a near record number of students signed up for classes in the
fall semester, university officials said this week. Final enrollment stood at 1,685, up 8.8
percent from last fall’s 1,548. more »
International: CASNR leads training for two Thai Cochran Fellows
CASNR hosted two agricultural experts from Thailand in October as part of a 25-year old
program sponsored by the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Known as the Cochran
Fellowship Program, it’s the first time that Texas Tech has been selected to host Cochran
fellows in the area of food safety and security. more »
Texas Tech rodeo places well at West Texas A&M University
The Texas Tech University women’s rodeo team took second place this weekend at the
West Texas A&M University Rodeo in Perryton. Hosted by Frank Phillips College and West
Texas A&M, the National Collegiate Rodeo Association event featured 16 colleges from
