Taking first place with 8,770 points, the Red Raiders won sheep evaluation, beef evaluation, market animal and meats divisions during the two-day National Meat Animal Evaluation Contest. more » Emerging Technology Fund award linked to CASNR research Texas officials announced today (Mar. 29) approval of an Emerging Technology Fund (ETF) award, up to $1.5 million for MicroZAP, a bio-technology company specializing in food safety. Texas Tech’s Department of Plant and Soil Science hosted the 50th annual gathering of the grueling undergraduate competition. more CASNR Research: As farmers move from cotton to corn, jobs are lost Fields of white cotton once stretched as far as the eye could see across the fertile Mississippi Delta, but now many of those acres are flush with green corn stalks. U.S. cotton production peaked in 2005 and has been sliding since as farmers switch from growing fiber to food. more » SLIDESHOW: Fulbright Educator, AEC Professor Returns From Kenya David Lawver, a professor in Texas Tech’s Department of Agricultural Education and Communications, taught extension methods during the fall at Egerton University near the east African provincial capital of Nakuru, Kenya.
