Tech’s newly minted Ag Council President believes there are a lot of people in this world
that need dedicated individuals like him. “The future was yesterday; the world depends

Bird dog training demo highlights Quail-Tech field day at historic 6666
Ranch
Producers squeezed by declining quail populations can see innovative quail management
techniques, along with a special bird dog training demonstration during an Oct. 23 field
day at the legendary 6666 Ranch near Guthrie. The event is hosted by the Quail-Tech
Alliance, a partnership between Texas Tech’s natural resources management
department and Quail First, a Dallas-based non-profit quail conservation organization.

AFS graduate student presented prestigious W. D. Farr Scholarship

A Texas Tech graduate student has been awarded a scholarship that honors one of the
cattle industry’s leading pioneers, the late W.D. Farr of Greeley, Colo. Rebecca Tokach,
who is completing a master’s degree with a specialization in muscle biology and meat
science, was given the $12,000 National Cattlemen’s Foundation scholarship Aug. 1 at
the 2010 Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver. more »
Texas Tech rodeo teams shine at Eastern New Mexico University Rodeo
Texas Tech’s rodeo teams kicked off their fall season with a strong showing over the
weekend at the Eastern New Mexico University ‘College Daze Rodeo’ at the Lewis
Cooper Arena in Portales, NM. Both Tech men’s and women’s teams took second place
at this the first Southwest Region National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association event of the

colleges when Texas Tech opened in 1925. Facilities within the organization include the

faculty and ag organizations was held Sept. 2 at AFS Livestock Arena. This year’s raininterrupted event featured a hardy hamburger line, along with a live county band and
