place today (Sept.
13) at the National Barrow Show in
Austin, Minn., report officials with
the university’s Department of
Animal and Food Sciences. The
team won the swine evaluation
contest by 32 points and had three

Women’s Rodeo Team takes top honors at Eastern New Mexico
University
Texas Tech’s Rodeo team started their season on a high note, with the women’s team
winning first place overall this weekend (September 22-24) at the Eastern New Mexico
University NIRA rodeo. The ladies accumulated 445 team points, outdistancing their
nearest competitor, Tarleton State University by 255 points. more »
Former Masked Rider tapped for Ag Workers Academic Excellence
Award
Former Texas Tech Masked Rider and current senior agricultural communications
major Christi Chadwell has been awarded the Academic Excellence Award from Ag
Workers Mutual Auto Insurance. The Garland native was selected from a pool of more
than 40 applicants based on her grade point average and resume of her campus
leadership and involvement. more »

during Texas Tech’s Quaker Research Farm Field Day near the university’s main
campus. The program was led by Glen Ritchie, a crop physiology assistant professor
with Tech’s Department of Plant and Soil Sciences and Farm Manager Steve Oswalt.

Red Raider Lamb Classic; Wilson’s Bland takes top honors at AECGO
event
Families from across the South Plains came to Texas Tech’s Animal and Food Sciences
Livestock Arena to participate in the Red Raider Lamb Classic on Aug. 28. Hosted by the
Agricultural Education and Communications Graduate Organization (AECGO), the
annual event served as the main fundraiser for the graduate student organization.
