Equine excellence; NAADA ‘Volunteer Service Award’ goes to Terry
Crofoot
Longtime supporter of Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural
Resources, Terry Crofoot of Lubbock, has been named the recipient of a ‘Volunteer
Service Award’ from the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association.
Crofoot is vice president of Crofoot Cattle Company, a family-owned cattle ranching,
real estate and quarter horse business located in the Hub City. more »
AFS Spring Awards Banquet highlights academic, extracurricular
performance
Outstanding student academic and extracurricular performance was in the spotlight on
Saturday (Apr. 13) during Texas Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences Spring
Awards Banquet at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center. More than 325 students,
faculty, staff, parents and supporters attended the department’s annual event. more »

In an effort to raise awareness of world hunger and other food issues, a nation-wide
tour made a stop in Lubbock on Friday (Apr. 26) at the Texas Tech Livestock Arena

Afield in the stunning mountains of Northern Mexico: NRM’s Lokey
Lecture
Bonnie Reynolds McKinney, wildlife author and noted naturalist, talked about the
importance of Mexico’s Carmen Mountains flora and fauna species when she delivered
Texas Tech’s Department of Natural Resources Management Lokey Lecture last month.
Her presentation was titled, “Afield with a Naturalist in the Northern Mexican

AFS research posters take stage at Plains Nutrition Council Spring
Conference
Two graduate students with Texas Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences
ranked in the top five of research poster competitors at the Plains Nutrition Council’s
Spring Conference last week in San Antonio. Tech’s Andrew Hosford and Tyler Harris
received $1,000 scholarship awards for their academic efforts. more »
Women’s rodeo team looks to defend their 2012 national
championship
By turning in a strong showing at the Tarleton State University Stampede Rodeo last
month Stephenville, the Texas Tech University women’s rodeo team qualified to
compete in the College National Finals Rodeo in June in Casper, Wyo. The women’s
team made school history last summer, winning its first national championship at the
64th annual College National Finals Rodeo. more »
