High on the agenda was a review of the new farm bill, specifically called the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013. more » ON THE SCENE Texas Tech names new leadership for Department of Animal & Food Sciences A nationallyrecognized leader in skeletal biology research has been named the new chairman of Texas Tech University’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences today (Jun. 21) according to officials within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Michael Orth takes the helm of the agricultural academic unit at the university after serving 17 years at Michigan State University. more » A food safety and public health research team with Texas Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences has received $100,000 for Salmonella research from animal-health company Zoetis.
