This course is the first course in a three course sequence designed to familiarize you with
concepts that should be part of an elementary math curriculum.

Regular attendance, completed assignments, and class participation are expected. You are
responsible for keeping up with all material covered and seeking help when needed. Make up
assignments and exams due to excused absence only (documentation required) are to be
arranged with me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after the absence occurs. Without an excused
absence, in class and take home assignments (not submitted on the due date) cannot be made up.
Please see me well in advance during office hours for any special requests related to absences,
missed tests, extra help etc…..
There will be 3 tests and a Final and several class assignments. At the end of the course, the
student's points will be totaled and averaged.
Cell-Phone Policy: Cell phone etiquette must be observed: To avoid disruptions/distractions
please turn off cell phones or place them on silence/vibrate during class-time and stow them
away from the desk. The instructor reserves the right to deduct points or give extra credit for
participation and professionalism.
Grades will be assigned as follows:
A = 94 - 100 % A- = 90 - 93 %
B = 84 - 86 %
B+ = 87 - 89 %
B- = 80 - 83 %
