Below is some information that you should find helpful during your upcoming visit to Salt Lake city for the Domingo
Toledo’s 60th Birthday Complex Geometry Seminar.

Important Locations – Enclosed is a map highlighting some important locations on campus. The University Guest
House, Heritage Center Dining, LNCO (Friday talks Room 1100), LCB (Saturday talks Room 219), Visitor Parking,
Union Building (Crimson View – Formerly Panorama Room), and local restaurants.
Registration and Reimbursement –
There will be a registration table set up on Friday to help answer your questions, process your reimbursements etc. The
table will NOT be available on Saturday so please make certain you bring your ID/Passport, and original receipts with
you to the meeting on Friday.
Shuttle Information –
If you are a Delta or SkyWest passenger and had Nancy arrange a reservation on Xpress Shuttle you should pick up your
luggage in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 and then check in at the Xpress Shuttle desk by baggage carousel!#7.
All other airline passengers should pick up your luggage in the baggage claim area of Terminal 1 and then check in at the
Express Shuttle desk by baggage carousel #2.
Note: The check-in desks are inside the terminal. Please do not go outside to the curb.
If no one is at the desk you may pick up the white courtesy telephone and dial 100 to let them know you are there. Their
general telephone numbers are 801-596-1600 or 1-800-397-0773.
The one-way fare from the Airport to the University Guest House is $12.00 plus tip – if you had Nancy make your
reservation your shuttle fare and tip has been pre-paid.
Guest House Lodging –
If you are staying at the University Guest House and had Nancy make a reservation for you the room fee has been prepaid – you will be responsible for any long distance phone charges or incidentals billed to your room. If you rented a car
the Guest House has parking passes available at the time of check in – these passes are ONLY valid at the Guest House
and NOT valid for main campus. Validation for Visitor lots will be available at Friday’s registration desk.
The University Guest House and Conference Center located at 110 S. Fort Douglas Blvd., 801-587-1000 or 1-888-4164075, www.guesthouse.utah.edu is accessible by Car, Campus Shuttle, Bus and Trax. Located near the Fort Douglas
Trax Station. You can view Bus and Trax Schedules at www.rideuta.com.
Traveling by Car From the Airport –
Exit the airport and follow signs to I-80 East. Stay on I-80 East to Foothill Blvd Exit. Follow Foothill Blvd to Wasatch
Drive and turn Right. Follow Wasatch Drive to the first Light (South Campus Drive/Hempstead Blvd). Turn Right.
Follow to Stop sign. This is Fort Douglas Blvd. Turn Left. The Guest House is just past the Chapel on the Left.
Parking on Campus –
If you have rented a car and wish to park on the main campus during the meetings you must park in a “Visitor Pay Lot”
or you will be ticketed. Do NOT park in a “Reserved” stall or you will be towed. Parking Validations for the Visitor
lots will be available at the Friday morning registration table. Enclosed is a map of how/where to park.
Campus Shuttle –
Enclosed is a campus shuttle map and schedule for those of you who will not be driving to the morning meetings.
Climate and Altitude –
Salt Lake City is located about 4,300 feet above sea level, with the surrounding mountain summits rising dramatically
above 10,000 feet. Many people coming from lower elevations will feel the altitude and should remember to take rests
and stay hydrated during walking or physical activity. People with heart conditions or other health problems that may be
affected by altitude should take precautions and/or consult their physician prior to coming.
Spring weather conditions can change quickly and dramatically. We suggest you check the local weather forecast just
prior to packing as conditions could range from T-Shirt weather to Spring snow flurries and pack accordingly for
possible changing conditions.
Nearby Food and Restaurants –
Most of you will be staying at the University Guest House, which provides a complimentary continental breakfast in the
lobby from 6 – 9 AM consisting of a variety of items such as coffee, juice, pastries, yogurt, cereal, fruit etc.
Within walking distance of the Guest House is the Heritage Center Dining Room located at 151 Connor Street. The
dining room is open on Weekdays from 6:30 AM – 8:00 PM and on Weekends from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM
– 8:00 PM.
Just West of the main campus are a variety of restaurants open for lunch and dinner.
Market Street Broiler – Fine Dining and Seafood – 260 S. 1300 E.
Aristo’s – Greek Restaurant and Café – 224 S. 1300 E.
The Pie – Pizzeria – 1320 E. 200 S.
Einstein’s – Bagels – 240 S. 1300 E.
B & D – Burgers – 222 S. 1300 E.
Sono Express – Japanese Food – 1318 E. 200 S.
Big Ed’s – 210 S. University Street
Central Campus has a variety of options open on Friday and limited options on Saturday.
Union Food Court – located on the main floor of the Olpin Union Building
Crimson View (Formerly the Panorama Room) – located on the top floor of the Olpin Union Building
Banking (ATM) –
The University Credit Union has a variety of locations on campus 481-8800:
University Bookstore – 9-5 M-F
Research Park – 505 Wakara Way – 9-6 M-F and 9-2 Saturday
University Annex – 1901 E. South Campus Dr. 9-5 M-F
Wells Fargo is located just west of campus at 235 S. 1300 E. 9-6 M-F and 9-3 Saturday 582-1258.
