Specializations are offered in the areas of Exercise/Fitness Specialist or Sport Manager. If you choose to pursue one of the Allied Sport Professions specializations, you should be aware of the following: 1. MAJOR IN THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND HUMAN SERVICES. If you pursue a specialization in the Allied Sport Professions, you must gain admission to the College of Education and Human Services (see admission requirements below) and declare a major in your specialization area. 2. ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND HUMAN SERVICES. Admission to the College requires: • For entering freshmen: a high school degree with a grade point average of 2.50 or higher (4 point scale); an ACT score of at least 20 or a combined SAT score of at least 950. • For students transferring from other institutions of higher education: a grade point average of 2.50 or higher (4 point scale) for all previous college coursework. • For CSU students: a grade point average of 2.50 or higher (4 point scale) for 12 semester hours or more of previous CSU coursework (if less than 12 semester hours of CSU coursework, the combined grade point average for all previous college coursework will be considered). 3. ADMISSION TO THE ALLIED SPORT PROFESSIONS PROGRAM. Admission to the University or College of Education and Human Services DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONSTITUTE ADMISSION TO ONE OF THE ALLIED SPORT SPECIALIZATIONS OFFERED BY THE COLLEGE. All students are required to meet certain standards and requirements of the College to be fully accepted into the program and prior to registering for coursework in education above the 200 level. These standards and requirements are: 1. An overall grade point average of 2.50 or better at the time of enrollment in education coursework above the 200 level. 2. Completion or in the process of completing 30 semester hours of college-level course work. 3. Demonstrated proficiency in writing by earning a grade of “C” or higher in a college-level English Composition course. 4. Demonstrated proficiency in mathematics by earning a grade of “C” or better in a college-level mathematics course. 5. Completion of an intake interview with the coordinator of Undergraduate Student Services in Julka Hall, Room 164. Submission of “unofficial” transcripts from all previous colleges attended is required at the time of this interview. During the intake interview, a College Advisor will evaluate your transcripts, discuss program requirements, and complete a program checklist for you. A CSU GRADE POINT AVERAGE OF AT LEAST 2.50 IS REQUIRED FOR CONTINUING ENROLLMENT IN EDUCATION COURSEWORK. 5. REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNSHIP AND SENIOR SEMINAR. Eligibility for internship and senior seminar depends on an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher, plus a professional core grade point average of 2.75 or higher, plus a major field grade point average of 2.50.
