NICMOS SMOV Update October 21 2009 Agenda 1. Recent & Upcoming Activities 2. NICMOS SMOV Program Status 3. Recent Results and Analysis - Dark Monitoring - Focus Tilt measurement 1 Recent Activity: • 11947 Daily dark monitoring (after Oct 19 dark monitoring via 11417) • 11408:3 281:11:17 PAM Tilt measurements NIC1/NIC2/NIC3 (Thu Oct 8) • 11410 292:14:08 Aperture Location NIC1/NIC2/NIC3 (Mon Oct 19) • 11416 Thermal Background started Mon Oct 19 • 11417 Dark Monitoring and Detector Reaqd Noise started Mon Oct 19 Planned activities: — 11408:4 Update of nominal PAM Tilt settings visit 8 (TBD) — SIAF update (if needed) following analysis of 11410 (A. Koekemoer) — 11416 Thermal Background. Parallel observations to continue until ‘sufficient’ number of visits have been obtained (≤100) — 11417 Dark Monitoring and Detector Read Noise continue until regular cal starts 2 NICMOS SMOV Status Activity Prop ID Title PI Visits Done Total Visits Status NIC03 11406 DC Transfer Test Schneider 2 2 Completed NIC04 11407 Filter Wheel Test Wheeler 4 4 Completed NIC05 11408 Focus/Tilt Test Wiklind 7 8 Analysis in progress (tilt) NIC06 11409 FOM Functional Dahlen 0 1 Deferred NIC07 11410 Aperture Location Koekemoer 3 3 Analysis in progress NIC08 11411 Optical Plate Scale Wiklind 0 3 Deferred NIC09 11412 Geometric Stability Wiklind 0 2 Deferred NIC10 11413 Mode-2 Coronagr. NIC1 & NIC2: @ 76K: mainly an increase in the high current tail. @ 77K: An overall shift of the dark current to higher levels, plus an increased tail. NIC3: @ 76K: marked increase in the high current tail and a slight shift in the overall level @ 77K: increased tail and overall shift towards higher dark current. 6 Recent Results NIC1 NIC2 NIC3 75K 15.8% 76K 27.7% 77K 31.9% 75K 15.8% 76K 24.5% 77K 31.3% 75K 15.8% 76K 36.5% 77K 42.2% Quantifying the warm dark current tail: Fraction of pixels above a dark current level (total) corresponding to a distance from the peak that is 1σ of the average (75-72.4)K peak. 7 !
