Purpose:!!
The!AJ!Drexel!Autism!Institute!is!issuing!a!second!call!for!proposals.!Last!year,!the!Institute!issued!the!first!call!
for!proposals!!which!resulted!in!two!exciting!projects!currently!underway.!!The!AJDAI!is!now!requesting!a!second!
round! of! applications! for! pilot! project(s)! that! involve! the! Autism! Institute! Clinical! Core! and! clinical! space,!
including! physical! space! at! 3020! Market! and! the! Mobile! REACH! intended! to! lead! to! larger! state,! federal! or!
foundation!grant! opportunities.!Projects!may!be!developed!by!teams!of!university!faculty!or!individual!faculty!
members,!but!must!include!the!use!of!the!Clinical!Core!resources!at!the!AJDAI.!!Project!proposals!can!involve!
any! of! the! Clinical! Core! Resources,! should! adhere! to! the! funding! requirements,! and! follow! the! submission!
process,!all!of!which!are!outlined!below.!!
Available'Clinical'Core'Resources'Descriptions:'
Space&–!Available!are!three!F!10x10!assessment!rooms!with!functioning!AV!data!capture!technology.!!Each!room!
is! viewable! through! an! adjacent! observation! room.! Also! available! is! MobileREACH,! the! Institute’s! mobile!
assessment!clinic.!The!REACH!is!also!equipped!with!AV!data!capture!and!integrated!with!the!clinical!space.!!
Staff&–!Clinical!Core!staff!include!individuals!with!MA,!EdS,!and!PhD!training!in!Psychology!with!experience!in!a!
range!of!clinical!and!educational!settings.!!!!
Supplies& –! The! clinical! core! has,! or! can! acquire,! assessment! instruments/kits! needed! for! psychoF
social/educational!evaluations,!screenings,!and!diagnoses.!
MobileREACH& –! The! MobileREACH! is! a! large,! 15’! splitter! van! that! can! be! used! as! a! mobile! assessment! clinic!
and/or!outreach!vehicle.!!
Funding:''
The!Institute!will!cover!direct!project!costs!up!to!$20,000.!!At!least,!threeFfourths!of!this!budget!must!be!Clinical!
Core!costs!(clinical!staff,!supplies,!or!MobileReach!use!(budget!at!$0.565/mile)!F!use!of!assessment!space!does!
not!need!to!be!budgeted.!!All!those!submitting!projects!must!first!consult!with!Dr.!Connell!prior!to!developing!
their!budget!proposal.!!No!funds!can!be!budgeted!for!any!Drexel!faculty/staff!time!other&than&Clinical!Core!staff.!!
However,! funds! from! other! sources! can! augment! the! proposed! budget! and! there! are! no! restrictions! on! their!
use.!!!Applications!should!indicate!how!any!outside!funding!will!be!used!and!describe!the!funding!source.!
OneFfourth!of!the!available!funding!can!be!used!on!materials/supplies!needed!to!complete!the!project.!!

• Eligible!projects!will!be!no!longer!than!a!12!month!project!period!(6!months!preferred).!
• IRB!protocols!must!be!submitted!within!2!months!of!the!award!date!
• The!study!timeline!should!indicate!study!completion!within!6!months!to!one!year!of!the!approved!IRB!!
