Both sections define and illustrate what consists of professional staff, traditional working hours and working schedules. Please read in its entirety for a detailed explanation. Professional staff who work less than forty (40) hours in a workweek shall not have their salary docked; but their accumulated compensatory time, if any, accrued sick time when appropriate and accrued vacation may be docked accordingly. In the event a professional member has no accrued compensatory, sick or vacation time, he/she may have his/her pay docked for a full workday absence. sistent with the operational needs of the department. A15. S4. A. Compensatory time under this article shall be accumulated on an “hour for hour” basis in increments of .5 hours. A15. S6. Schedule Changes. In the event it becomes necessary to change a regular work schedule, the affected employee (s) will be notified at least two (2) weeks in advance of the change except in emergencies. A15.S4.B. Any compensatory time accumulated under this article must be used within one (1) year of the week it is earned or the time will be forfeited. A15.S4.C. The use of compensatory time shall be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and supervisor, with the supervisor’s assent not being unreasonably withheld. However, compensatory time off shall not interfere with or impede the normal departmental operations. A15.S5. Lunch Break. There will be no January meeting. VOLUME1, ISSUE 2 PAGE Member Spotlight In every issue we plan to spotlight a member of our union. This issue is our co-chair Sandra English. On October 6, 2011, Sandra was awarded the Distinguished Service Award For Professional Staff. In addition to Sandra's role as assistant director of admissions and multicultural recruitment in the College of Law, she finds time to advise two student organizations, coach a moot court team, and enhance her professional skills through participation in the 2011 LeadDIVERSITY class of the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio and the 2011 Ohio Political Leaders Fellowship program of the Center for Progressive Leadership. Her excellent work contributed significantly to the College of Law winning the first Diversity Matters Benefits Update Human Resources is conducting some sessions that might be of benefit. Prior to joining Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Sandra worked as an Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor. Some of her volunteer activities include service to Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio, Citizens Academy Parent Advisory Council and she is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In February of 2011, Sandra was selected into the Center for Progressive Leadership’s 2011 Ohio Political Leaders Fellowship. 2
