Memorandum on exchange students enrolled in the Double-Degree Special Program (Multiple Degree System) between Shizuoka University, Japan and Óbuda University, Hungary Shizuoka University, Japan and Obuda University, Hungary hereby enter into an agreement regarding the introduction of the Double-Degree Special Program (or Multiple Degree System, hereafter referred to as “DDP”) by agreeing to the regulations described below. Furthermore, the respective universities agree to promote friendship between both universities and to facilitate student interaction based on Article 2 of the Agreement between Shizuoka University and Obuda University, dated 11th January, 2012. 1. Both universities shall inaugurate the DDP in the Graduate School of Science and Technology at Shizuoka University and the respective doctoral program at Obuda University for their respective doctoral students. 2. The DDP is an academic program that will enable students who are currently enrolled in doctoral program at their universities (hereafter referred to as the “Home University”) to study at the other university (hereafter referred to as the “Host University”), and that will permit students admitted by both Host and Home Universities (hereafter referred to as “DDP exchange students”) to obtain doctoral degrees from both universities upon completion of their doctoral courses. 3. To be eligible for consideration, DDP candidates must pass the DDP screening examination hosted on the Internet by the respective Host University. 4. DDP exchange students who have passed the DDP screening examination will be treated as regular students by the respective Host University. 5. The number of DDP exchange students accepted annually on the basis of this agreement will be limited to a maximum of three (3). 6. Registration at the Host University shall be for a period of up to two (2) years. However, after consultation, representatives of both universities may extend this period under extenuating circumstances. 7. Each Home University will recognize the credits earned by DDP exchange students at the Host University. 8. Each Host University will waive all application, admission and tuition fees for DDP exchange students. 9. DDP exchange students will be held responsible for bearing the costs for all necessary transport documents, such as passports and visas, transportation to and from the Host University, as well as costs associated with living, such as accommodation, personal expenses, textbooks and medical insurance. 10. DDP exchange students should be able to conduct their daily lives in English and/or the language of the country of the Host University. 11. Each Host University will make every effort to support DDP exchange students, such as by making arrangements for accommodations. 12. Educational research plans resulting in DDP exchange students earning doctoral degrees shall be decided upon by prior consultation among supervisors at both Home and Host Universities. Such plans will require the approval of the DDP committees at both universities. 13. DDP curricula will be composed of three (3) tuition formats, including lectures, seminars and special research. All classes will be conducted in English. 14. DDP exchange students who have earned the credits required by both Host and Home Universities, who have completed their doctoral dissertations and passed the necessary degree examinations, will be awarded their doctoral degrees. DDP exchange students will be required to submit different doctoral dissertations to the respective Host and Home Universities. 15. Those DDP exchange students who pass their examinations will receive Doctor of Engineering (D. Eng.), Doctor of Informatics (D. Inf.), Doctor of Science(D. Sci.), Doctor of Agriculture (D. Agr.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) degree from Shizuoka University and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) degree from Obuda University. 16. Property rights that arise from any invention or idea developed by DDP exchange students during their program shall be processed by each university according to its regulations. In the event of any difficulties, a process of consultation shall be entered into between the universities. 17. In order to resolve any difficulties associated with the administration of the DDP and to facilitate further developments in this regard, supervisors and international cross-cultural committees shall be named at both universities. The activities of these supervisors and committees shall include the organization of meetings between the respective universities to discuss relevant matters when necessary. 18. In the event that either of the respective Graduate Schools is reorganized within the term of validity as described in this memorandum, the replacement organization will assume responsibility for the DDP described herein. 19. This memorandum will come into effect upon signature by the President or Rector of both universities and shall remain in effect until the expiration of the Agreement.
