AGREEMENT between Óbuda University Technical University of Applied Sciences, Wildau and Germany Budapest Hungary In accordance with the idea to develop and diversify their fields of education and research the representatives of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau and the Óbuda University hereby declare their availability for collaboration. Both parties, by signing this agreement, affirm and sustain the importance of regional and international cooperation in higher education and scientific activity. Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau and Óbuda University - hereafter referred to as the Institutions – agree to work together in order to mobilize their respective means and facilities to improve and develop the cooperation between the two Institutions in various academic and scientific activities. The following general principles are agreed upon: Scope of the Cooperation 1. Based on the Hungarian-German Governmental Agreement for cultural and scientific cooperation and the Hungarian - German Intergovernmental Agreement, the Institutions will enhance the cooperation in their common fields of interest in Natural Sciences, Engineering Studies and Economics in accordance with their own traditions and social responsibilities. Both Institutions will strive to establish equivalence of educational standards and qualifications between the two Institutions, with the aim to introduce the mutual recognition of graduate diplomas. 1 Experimentally, the ”transferable” credits, based on the European Credit Transfer System, may be used in order to establish the equivalence of study programs. Exchange of faculty members for teaching and research, exchange of students for undergraduate or graduate studies, collaboration on research, and organizing bilateral student activities in sports and cultural events are within the scope of the cooperation. Exchange of Lecturers and Researchers 2. Lecturers and researchers will reciprocally visit the Institutions in order to establish or develop academic contacts, to deliver lectures or to take part in academy juries, and to cooperate in research projects within the framework of specific programs mutually determined by the Departments and Faculties of the two Institutions. According to the nature of the enrolled programs, these visits may last from one week to one month within an accepted yearly quota for the project cooperation. These activities may also involve the exchange and development of methods and teaching supporting materials. 3. To carry out the exchange mentioned in Article 2, both parties will primarily utilize the available CEEPUS resources, or will meet the traveling expenses of their own faculty and researchers while the accommodation and living expenses will be met by funds made available to the host Institutions. For those activities, which are not covered by relevant mutual agreements, the expenses will be supported by the involved persons or departments. The Institutions will use their own rules and provisions within the framework of mutual legislation, to the best possible degree in giving all the necessary assistance to the visitors so as to facilitate their activity in the host environment. Collaboration on Research 4. The Institutions will make every effort towards the development and implementation of research projects, which are of mutual interest. 2 5. In the fields of common interest, the Institutions will encourage joint scientific workshops, seminars, and short courses and will exchange literature, publications and other scientific information. At the same time the Institutions will encourage participation of their lecturers and researchers in seminars, conferences and short courses organized by the partner Institution. 6. In relevant scientific fields and based on the common interests and mutual funding principle, double-coordinated Ph.D. programs will be initiated by the Institutions, according to relevant natural rules in the field. 7. Joint application for funds available within EU R&D Framework Programs, COST, EUREKA, Intergovernmental S&T Agreement Projects will be submitted by the Institutions to finance their research collaboration. Student Exchange 8. The Institutions will encourage their students to pursue undergraduate and graduate (postgraduate) studies in the partner Institutions mainly within the CEEPUS Program or other European programs. For this purpose, rules and regulations existing in the Institutions will be made known to students and to faculty members. This could involve: - student exchanges for a part of the academic year, for the duration of a specific project, or practice, or diploma work, - the exchange of graduates and postgraduates for further studies, - practical placement and technical visits. Validity 9. This agreement will come into force after having been signed by the Rectors of the two Institutions, and approved by the necessary authorities. This agreement is automatically valid for six years. The cooperation outlined in this agreement will be detailed in a series of two-year plans agreed between our faculties 3 and departments. Subject to the approval of both parties within the framework of the Working Plan (Research Topic List), either party may introduce additional topics. This agreement is automatically valid for a further six years, unless one of the parties gives formal notice of withdrawal during the last six months of the agreement’s validity. The agreement can be terminated at any time, by a mutual decision. The agreement will lapse 3 months after either party announces its withdrawal from the agreement.
