DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS DESIGN GUIDELINES 01 74 00 SECTION 01 74 00 – CLEANING SUMMARY The University of South Alabama expects that all construction sites be maintained in a clean and orderly manner. Maintain project in accordance with applicable safety and insurance standards. Store all volatile wastes in covered metal containers. Provide adequate ventilation during use of volatile or noxious substances. PRODUCT Use only cleaning products recommended by manufacturer for surface to be cleaned. FINAL CLEANING Before starting final cleaning, meet with the managers that represent Custodial Services. Employ experienced workers, or professional cleaners, for final cleaning. In preparation for substantial completion or occupancy, conduct final inspection of sight-exposed interior and exterior surfaces, and of concealed spaces. Remove grease, dust, dirt, stains, labels, and other foreign materials from exposed interior and exterior finishes surfaces. Remove putty, paint, labels lubricants, etc., from windows, mirrors, and sash, and then polish, taking care not to scratch glass. Vacuum carpeting (shampoo where required), removing debris and excess nap. Repair, patch and touch up marred surfaces to specified finish, to match adjacent surfaces. Coordinate wasting of vinyl and wood flooring with the University of South Alabama’s Building Services. The Contractor shall conduct an inspection of sight- exposed surfaces, and all work areas, to verify the entire work is clean. Replace air conditioning filters where units were operated during construction. Maintain cleaning until project or portion thereof is occupied by Owner. The University will be responsible for post construction resilient floor stripping and finishes. SITE RESTORATION The contractor shall restore all existing gravel areas, paved area, walks, drives, storm drains, etc. to their original condition. The contractor shall restore all grassed or turf areas disturbed by construction activities, including areas used for access, staging, parking and storage in accordance with established requirements in the construction documents. When the finish landscaping is accomplished by separate contract, the contractor documents shall include specific requirements for leaving the site ready for landscaping.
