Responsibilities and duties as chair included the administration of an undergraduate

faculty, and a budget of $1,227,316. The Department had approximately 245
undergraduate majors and 20 graduate students. Research administration and
program development activities in cooperation with the Dean of College of Arts and
Sciences were also part of the Chair's activities. During this time, departmental
development has resulted in the Center for Archaeological Studies,
Sociology/Anthropology Instructional Laboratory, USA Programs in Gerontology
and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. These programs are administered through
the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work.

Administrative responsibilities included research and program development,
supervising graduate research and graduate studies, general fund raising, facilitating
cooperative research activities and proposal preparation. Served as assistant to the

Responsibilities included proposal preparation and administration of all phases of a
series of interdisciplinary research projects on the interpersonal structure for
educational and career knowledge of inner-city youth. The basic objective of this
research was the identification of interpersonal networks that enhanced the career
learning skills of disadvantaged, African-American and Native-American youth.
Responsibilities also included cooperative research activities with vocational
psychologists, economists and representatives of external funding agencies. This
research led to the development of the Career Education Community Based Learning
Module. I also taught courses in education, theory and minority relations in the
Department of Sociology.

Served as court-appointed expert witness for the 23rd District Court, State of
Louisiana. Activities included research design, data-collection and data analysis for
evaluating the social impacts of a train derailment and toxic spill which occurred in
Livingston, LA, 1982. Report entered as court evidence.

Served as a consultant for plaintiffs involved in class-action litigation on the
Pigeon River, Hoforth, TN. 1988-1991.

Served as expert witness for class-action litigation involving residents of the
Southbend subdivision and the Brio super fund site, Houston, Texas. Activities
included research design, project administration, data-collection and completion of
preliminary report. Report submitted to court. 1991-1993.
