SUMMARY
THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES’
RECORDS DECISION PANEL, 21 MAY 2015
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) – Fitness to Fly medical reports
The Panel agreed that The National Archives should select for preservation a
collection of medical and fitness to fly assessments for the following notable
aviators and aviatrices:





Amy Johnson
Elsie Joy Davison (nee Muntz)
Rodney Dryland
George Lissant Beardmore
Henry Osborne Haughton
It was agreed that these records will complement The Archives’ existing
holdings and be of great interest to researchers and members of the public.
Papers of the former Overseas Service Resettlement Bureau (OSRB)
The Panel considered options for selecting records of the former Overseas
Service Resettlement Bureau which had been established to assist colonial
officers when they retired from HM Overseas Civil Service.
The Panel agreed that The National Archives should select all the OSRB
records which were currently held at the Department for International
Development. These included files containing monthly returns (1958-1979),
index cards, application forms and letters. These records will complement
OSRB files already held at The National Archives and provide an official
record of these officials’ employment by the UK Government.
Date of next meeting
The next meeting is to be held on 30 June 2015 at 3pm.
