QUEENSBOROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE QUEENSBOROUGH STUDENT ASSOCIATlON CONSTITUTION OF THE CHEMISTRY CLUB February 2010 Article I: The organization's name is THE CHEMISTRY CLUB. Article II: The purpose of the club is to provide interested students with the valuable information they need on the various branches of the Science Programs they plan to join once they leave Queensborough. This is achieved via : a) inviting old, successful QCC graduates to give relevant talks and answer pertinent questions, b) showing films related to science and its related fields, c) attending scientific talks and meetings in nearby colleges and universities (St. John's, Hofstra, Queens College etc.) d) other means and ways. Article III: Every QCC student is welcome and encouraged to become a member. It is expected that every student taking chemistry classes that are required for a degree in the sciences will join the Chemistry Club. No person shall be denied membership or office in this organization because of race, color, religious beliefs or non-belief, national origin, sex, political beliefs, veteran, handicapped status or sexual orientation. Article IV: Section I: The President, senator and vice president have the duty to be in continuous touch with the Faculty Advisor and help with the facilities, refreshments, after-thefunction clean-up and advising the younger members of the Club. They are also expected to attend all meetings as required by the QSA. Section II: Elections are held among all full-time students who are members of the club. Article V: Meetings are held concurrently during or after the various events such as talks, parties and presentations. The student members are notified of these meetings via their individual chemistry instructors and the posting of the flyers in the Chemistry floor. Article VI: Any amendments may be proposed and adopted with 51% of the voting members at the designated meeting. Article VII: This constitution and all amendments to it must be approved by the appropriate governing body (QSA Student Senate). Article VIII: Most meetings are conducted according to Robert's Rules of Order. Since the purpose of this organization is educational the understanding, cooperation and gentleman like conduct is expected.
