The Constitution of The Biology Club
Article 1.
The name of this organization shall be The Biology Club
Article II.
The purpose of this organization is to enhance and support the
.academic growth and development of the biology student. It shall offer the
opportunity to develop leadership skills, form relationship with faculty
mentors outside the classroom and to shape friendships and successfully
work with others through peer interaction.
Article ill. Membership
The Biology Club is .open to all Queensborough Community College
students who have an interest in biological science and who are willing to
assume initiative and responsibilities.' One may become a member by
attending club meetings.
NO PERSON SHALL BE DENIED MEMBERSHIP OR OFFICE IN
THIS ORGANIZATION BECAUSE OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGIOUS
BELIEFS OR NON-BELIEFS, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEX,
POLITICAL BELIEFS, VETERAN, HANDICAPPED STATUS OR
SEXUAL ORIENTATION.
Article IV. Section I.
President:
a) Shall provide executive leadership to The Biology Club and
assume primary responsibility for the fulfillment of the club's
purpose.
b) Shall call regular (emergency) meetings of the Board.
c) Can appoint (4) student representatives to the Board.
d) Shall be a voting member of the Board.
e) Shall have the power to veto any matter voted upon if it is written
and agreed upon with the club advisor.
f) Shall represent the members of The Biology Club when .
representation is appropriate.
Vice President:
a) In the absence of the President, will assume all duties and
responsibilities of the President.
b) Shall be a voting member of the Board.
c) Shall assist the president
d) Shall prepare and present at the final session a summary of the
year's activities.
e) Must attend all Board meetings.
f) Shall represent the members of The Biology Club when
representation is appropriate.
Senator:
a) Shall serve on an Academic Senate Committee.
b) Shall be a voting member of the Board.
c) Shall keep informed of the needs and interests of the members and
d) Must attend all Board meetings.
e) Shall represent the members of The Biology Club when
representation is appropriate.
Treasurer:
a) Shall be a voting member of the Board.
b) Shall keep records of all financial activities.
c) Has the power and responsibilities to examine the :6nancial
records.
d) Shall sign payment vouchers, purchase requirements, and checks to
authorize funding.
e) Must attend all Board meetings.
f) Shall represent the members of The Biology Club when
representation is appropriate.
Secretary:
a) Shall serve and help the Board as an assistant to every member on
the Board.
b) Shall keep the minutes and records of the meetings.
c) Must attend all Board meetings in order to have voting power.

Article IV. Section ll.
Elected President:
a) The new President is nominated by the old president
b) The nominee is voted in by a super majority vote by the board.
Board members:
a) Get appointed by the new president
b) He/She only gets to chose members if the old once leaf.
c) Old board members get to choose if they want to continue their
term.
Article v. Meetings
Meetings of the biology club will be held at least (7) once a month or
more frequently to vote and plan educational and social programs. The entire
board must attend to all regular scheduled meetings.
Article VI. Amendment ProcedUres
a) The proposed amendment must be introduced at a meeting of the
Student Board.
b) Copies of the proposed amendment will be distributed to all
Student Board members at this meeting.
c) The board shall vote to approve or rej ect the amendment at the
same or following meeting of the board.
d) The board must pass the proposed amendment by a super
majority vote of membership in attendance
Article VIT. Ratification
a) All member of the Board have to agree on the constitution, up on
hand with their signature.
b) All members of the Board have to read the constitution prior to
signmg.
Article
vnr, Resignation·
a) All Board members should give a writing statement of resignation
to the president.
b) This statement has to be handed in a week prior to the resignation
date.
