April Camping Trip
When: Friday, April 27th- Saturday, April 28th
Time: 5:00pm Friday- 4:00pm Saturday
Where: Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt

What to expect: We will meet at Chichaqua and put up the tents for the first time
and get the campsite ready. We will have dinner over the campfire.
The following day, we will go “herping.” This means that we will be
catching snakes, frogs, toads, and possibly turtles. We will have a
scavenger hunt with compasses and GPS systems. We will discuss the
three projects at Turtle Camp and everyone will have an opportunity
to meet each other.
What to bring:
 Parents and family
 Old shoes
 Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
 Warm sleeping clothes
 Stocking cap
 We have tents and sleeping bags for students. If your family
requires gear, please let us know.
Other Information:
 You are welcome to come in your own vehicle, but we can also
pick you up.
 There are no venomous snakes at Chichaqua.
 This event is not required, but encouraged. We want to meet you!
There will also be important information available. We plan on
dividing into teams that we will work in at Turtle Camp.

Take I-235 West
Merge onto I-35 North
Take the 1st Street Exit. (Exit 92)
Turn right onto 1st Street/ IA-931. Continue for 5.7 miles.
Turn left at North 72nd / CR-S14. Continue for 5.1 miles.
Stay straight to continue on NE Yoder Drive/ CR-F22. Continue for 0.5 miles
Turn right at NE 80th Street. Continue for 1.0 mile.
Turn left at NE 126th Street. After nearly 1 mile, you will have arrived at Chichaqua.
Once you enter Chichaqua, follow the blacktop until the last left. Turn left and park in
parking lot. There will be a sign.
