CLOSING DATE: February 6, 2014 Job Description Primary function of this position is to interview applicants; compile and evaluate information received from the applicant and other sources; and determine the applicant's eligibility to receive Public Assistance; other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Education & Experience Meets all qualifications as an IMC-I and has one year of experience as a Social Services Income Maintenance Caseworker. (NOTE: Applicants for IM Caseworker I will be accepted for a possible “work against” appointment if recruitment for a qualified IM Caseworker II is unsuccessful. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong mathematical reasoning and computational skills; ability to communicate with clients, applicants, and the public to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, policies, and procedures; ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants; ability to learn the program area of assignment and all agency programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life support functions of stooping, reaching, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work which includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must have the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting functions, operate typewriter or computer terminal, do extensive reading and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements Any Bachelors degree from an accredited institution; or, graduation from an accredited associate degree program in human services technology(criminal/juvenile justice), social services associate, paralegal technology, business administration, secretarial science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of para-professional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an Income Maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of para-professional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks.
