The Port of Mobile has always played a key role in the economic health of the city since its beginning and has been supplemented with growing sectors in aerospace. As one of the Gulf Coast’s main cultural centers, Mobile houses the USS Alabama Battleship, several art museums, a professional opera, a professional ballet company and a large concentration of historic architecture. Records were set in several categories such as new student enrollment, first-time freshman enrollment, graduate student enrollment, African-American enrollment and average freshman ACT score.
