Public Safety
MISSION
The Department of Public Safety is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for
student, faculty, staff and visitors to Queensborough Community College of the City University of
New York. The department maintains and promotes respect for the individual rights and dignity of
all persons and continually attempts to instill public confidence by maintaining a high degree of
professionalism, dedication and expertise in the delivery of the service it provides.

Description of Change
Although personnel levels have
increased they remain in a state of
flux due to member retirement
and/or departure from the service
for positions with other law
enforcement agencies. The
department’s staff consists of 1
Director, 2 Lieutenant/Assistant
Directors, 5 Sergeants, 24 Campus
Peace Officer and 19 CSA’s. One
CPO was designated to Corporal.
These positions enhance
supervision within the
department, as well as provide
and enticement for members to
advance their careers, thus
improving morale and as an
incentive for enhanced
performance.

“W” building, Front Gate
