County Social Services Director - Richmond County The Richmond County Human Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for the vacant Division of Social Services Director position. The successful candidate will manage a variety of optional and required programs in this rural county with a population of approximately 46,000. The department is comprised of approximately 115 employees. This position reports to the Director of Health & Human Services. General duties include: Directs, plans, organizes, implements, monitors and evaluates the overall administrative operations, staff, and functions of a complex social services division. Participates in department & division management team meetings, stakeholder forums and leadership development processes. Oversees and participates in the planning and development of division goals, policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Develops social services division's strategic plans to accomplish goals and objectives and improve effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery and program operations. Supervises, mentors and coaches management and staff. Directs management and staff, including hiring, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions and dismissals, and ensures activities are consistent with goals and objectives. Seeks and creates opportunities for improved performance, and development of staff. Identifies and addresses problems or conflicts. Reviews and analyzes program goals and objectives, community needs, service demands and project trends. Directs and ensures conformity with State, Federal and County laws, policies and procedures. Represents the Director as needed. Qualifications MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT – A master’s degree in social work and two years of supervisory experience in the delivery of client services; or a bachelor’s degree in social work and three years of supervisory experience in the delivery of client services, one of which must have been in Social Services; or graduation from a four year college or university and three years of supervisory experience in the delivery of client services, two of which must have been in Social Services; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
