The Harvard Divinity School (HDS) Office of Admissions Graduate Assistant is a work-study position that provides
student employees the opportunity to gain practical higher education experience in graduate admissions. This position will
provide the Graduate Assistant with the opportunity to participate in, contribute to, and experience the full cycle of an
HDS admissions and recruitment season.
The selected candidate will work closely with the staff in the Office of Admissions to process applications and supporting
documents, to assist in recruitment events (Diversity and Explorations program, Theological Education Day, Open House
for Admitted Students, in-person and virtual fairs), to answer questions from prospective students and applicants via
phone and email, and to provide other support as needed.
Anticipated duties, responsibilities, or projects may include:






Process applications and supporting documents
Counsel prospective students and applicants on the application process
Assist in staffing, planning, and coordination of recruitment and yield events
Conduct campus tours and information sessions
Work closely with the Staff Assistant to provide customer service to prospective students; provide back-up for
front desk coverage
Support the office in development of media and marketing efforts (e.g. social media, video production, etc.)
Qualifications:






Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Flexibility learning new computer programs/systems (InDesign, Slate, student records systems, etc.)
Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team, set priorities, and adjust to changing situations
Interest in working with prospective graduate students and members of the HDS community
Good attention to detail and project follow-through
Depending on the candidate’s areas of interest, additional opportunities will exist for special projects related to
technology, marketing, communications, data management, policy research, and program delivery.
This is a 12-15 hour per week position with schedule flexibility. Availability for additional hours during application
processing season is desirable. Work study eligibility is preferred. Position reports to the Assistant Director of
Admissions.
