Size/Scope
Notes of licences to male convicts to be at large, and notes of revocation of such
licences, under the Penal Servitude Acts 1853 and 1864 endorsed on old
captions and in some cases, transfer papers.
770 boxes comprising 45,525 named individuals and approximately 764,000
images.

details: Name and aliases, Age, Married or Single & number of children, Read or

& Place of Committal, Places and periods of Confinement since last conviction,
Character, Residence of family or next of kin, Previous convictions, Religion,
Health, Physical description of convict. Signed and dated by governor of prison.

Licence Numbers 19,726-19,800, arranged with descriptive details as above.
Also included are Abstracts of Entries in Misconduct book, Order of Licence to a
Convict, dates of transfer showing good conduct/character/progress at school
and weekly records of Marks and Gratuities whilst imprisoned. 20 single pages

condition but some preparation of documents will be required prior to scanning.
