What is DP-21?
Data Portal for 21st Century Success (DP-21) is an interactive data portal that seeks to provide educators
access to data that are indicative of school success and improving student achievement in a single, userfriendly location. The purpose of this portal is not to provide new data; the data have been available
through various platforms and collection systems. However, DP-21 allows you to examine key data in a
single location for more efficient school-level data analysis. This is a feature that has consistently been
requested by WV educators for several years.
Through DP-21, schools will have the opportunity to identify any areas of success or concern. If there
appears to be an item of interest, school leaders may then research it further by exploring their existing
resources. For example, a principal may see something of interest concerning their school’s discipline
files or Acuity reports and go directly to their internal discipline records or to the Acuity website. Using
DP-21, we hope to provide school leaders with real-time access to readily updated data for formative
improvement.
Additionally, each data visualization screen allows school leadership team members to examine their
school’s data and make comments and recommendations. Ultimately, the principal, perhaps with
her/his team, can examine the comments and recommendations and make a final comment and
recommendation for the month.
