Overview
The Future Leaders Program is designed to identify and cultivate the science leaders of
the future. As a participant, you will be given opportunities to:




gain a deeper understanding of your leadership style and harness your leadership
potential through skills training and team-building activities;
engage with the broader community by putting leadership into practice;
foster your personal and professional networks through engagement with your
peers, senior members of the Faculty and University, as well as leaders in science,
industry and the broader community;
develop and challenge yourself.
To complete the program, you will need to commit to:





Attending a 3-day residential in Alexandra from 16 to 18 February 2016 inclusive;
Attending 4 evening leadership seminars held during the year;
Attending 2 leadership workshops during each of the two semester breaks;
Participating in minimum 30 hours of self-selected leadership activities within the
university, profession, and/or wider community during the year;
Attending the celebration dinner at the end of the program held in November.
Selection will be based on the following:
 past contribution to, and involvement in, university/community activities;
 satisfactory academic performance;
 student responses to selection questions in the application form; and
 interview (if required) for short-listed applicants only.
Selection Process Timeline
1. Applications open 7 September 2015
2. Applications close 27 September 2015
3. Applicants short listed and notified by 9 October 2015
4. Interviews (if required) during week commencing 12 October 2015
5. Applicant notified of outcome by 25 October 2015
Exclusions
To qualify for the program, you must be enrolled in the second year of a science degree in
2016, including cross-faculty double degrees (but excluding BSc Advanced Global
Challenges).
You are welcome to apply for Ancora Imparo but if you are accepted into the Future
Leaders Program, you must elect to do one or the other (i.e. you cannot do both).
