THE VISION
Imagine a 250,000-square-foot, multilevel convention center designed by Frank
Lloyd Wright. Curving, geometric forms converge with the breathtaking beauty of
the natural environment. Spectacular glass vistas offer an exquisite lake view,
which accents flexible meeting and exhibition space.
Rising from the shore of beautiful Lake Monona, the Monona Terrace Community
and Convention Center offers an exquisite event venue. Originally proposed in
1938, this grand vision of Wisconsin native architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, has hosted events since the summer of 1997.
Wright's architectural vision for the City of Madison— a curvilinear gathering
place — links the shore of Lake Monona to the State Capitol. With interiors reconfigured by Taliesin Architects, Wright's successor firm, Monona Terrace spans 90 feet
out over shimmering waters, incorporating thoroughly modern technology and amenities with the architect's signature organic design. Monona Terrace is an environment
that encourages a sense of well-being. It has an atmosphere that promotes the
exchange of ideas and retention of information.
So, if you want out-of-the-box thinking, don't meet in a box. Plan your upcoming
event at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in one of America's
most celebrated cities — Madison, Wisconsin.
FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
Wisconsin native Frank Lloyd Wright changed forever the way we think about buildings and the space within them. He eschewed the conventions of the day — Victorian
ornamentation, classical design — and embraced what he thought were more pure,
geometric forms. He went on to found his own school of architectural thought at
Taliesin, in rural Wisconsin, and in Arizona.
Monona Terrace continues the legacy of this internationally acclaimed architect —
the creator of the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, and
revolutionary homes that were the first to embrace open floor plans, recessed lighting,
and low-hipped roofs that made a horizontal connection to the land.
MEETING AND EXHIBITION FACILITIES
Located just two blocks from the State Capitol and streets full of shops and restaurants,
Monona Terrace celebrates form and function in one of America's most celebrated
cities — Madison, Wisconsin.
Main features of the building include an exhibit hall, large ballroom, flexible meeting
room space and multimedia auditorium. Other special amenities include a business
center, a gift shop, art/exhibit area and expansive areas for registration and information needs. A good portion of the interior upper floors are devoted to "public space."

beauty and quality of the facility, but even more

so to the attitude and competency of the staff."
John A. Brissee, President
Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, Inc.
Multimedia Lecture Hall: amply seats 320
theater-style, with satellite capabilities
connecting Monona Terrace to the world.
Meeting Spaces: offering over 28,000 square feet of flexible spaces ranging in size
from 460 to 7,000 square feet.
Exhibit Hall: featuring 40,000 square feet of essential convention amenities, including
show manager offices, concession areas, seven loading bays, and a truck wash bay.
Pre-function space: some 16,000 square feet for registration, receptions, breaks
and those informal, yet effective, "meetings between meetings." In fact, most of the interior
and upper floors of Monona Terrace are devoted to public space, including the mezzanine level with its two executive board rooms, all with a gorgeous lake view.
Monona Terrace is not only designed to meet the high-tech demands of today's
convention, trade show and meeting planners, it is also designed for complete accessibility and civic enjoyment. And crowning this jewel is a 68,000 square-foot rooftop
garden that celebrates the cityscape. Look out over Lake Monona, the downtown skyline and the State Capitol dome. You have found the backdrop you need for memorable and effective meetings.

provide portable IP access.
Video: An internal RF system distributes cable channels and user channels for informational display at TV kiosks around the facility. A separate system allows for video display in overflow rooms or for connection to satellite uplink trucks. Satellite downlinks
can be provided to any room. We offer a variety of video projectors to accommodate computers with up to SXGA resolution and an assortment of screen sizes to fit
any of our meeting spaces.
Lighting: Programmable lighting gives users control. There are dimmable incandescent lights
in all rooms, and additional mercury vapor or fluorescent lighting is available for even
brighter exhibitor lighting. Theatrical lights are ceiling hung in most spaces and can be
added for highlighting speakers or platforms.
Sound: All rooms include ceiling - mounted speakers for public address. Equipment
can be added to provide for any need—from laptop audio to a full-range, 24-channel system.
Translation Equipment: Available in the Lecture Hall.
