Presented by Professor Frank Bloch, Professor of Law Emeritus,

Professor Frank Bloch
Frank S Bloch is Professor of Law Emeritus at Vanderbilt University Law School in Nashville,
Tennessee, where he served as Director of Clinical Education and as Director of the Social
Justice Program.
He was a Fulbright Professor at Delhi University and has served as a consultant to the
International Social Security Association, the Administrative Conference of the United States,
the Social Security Advisory Board, and the US Agency for International Development.
Before joining the faculty at Vanderbilt, he taught at the University of Chicago Law School
and practised law with California Rural Legal Assistance.
Professor Bloch is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance.
He holds a BA and a PhD (Politics) from Brandeis University and a JD from Columbia
University Law School.

Currently he serves as Executive Secretary of the Global Alliance for Justice Education (GAJE).
Professor Bloch is an internationally prominent expert on legal aid and clinical legal education,
as well as social security, disability, and other public benefit programs. He is the author or editor
of nine books and has published over 35 articles and book chapters, focusing most recently
on the global movement in clinical legal education.
