JOB GOAL
To provide students with disabilities with the necessary medical care to allow them to access and
participate in the educational setting.
QUALIFICATIONS

Registered Nurse; current Florida license.
Degree preferred.
Experience in community health and/or school health programs.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
To provide daily classroom observations to assess health care needs of medically fragile
students.
2.
To plan, implement, and evaluate procedures for the health care needs of students with
disabilities in the assigned school setting.
3.
To train and monitor school personnel assigned to perform health care procedures
according to Florida State Statutes.
4.
To keep the Health Services Coordinator for Student with Disabilities and Principal
informed of any health related issues with students with disabilities.
5.
To monitor specific health problems and perform health care procedures for students
with disabilities.
6.
To provide consultation to the Principal and school staff regarding health services for
students with disabilities.
7.
To facilitate and maintain appropriate communication with staff, parents, and appropriate
health care providers.
8.
To maintain appropriate health care records on students with disabilities.
9.
To assist with health screening activities for students with disabilities.
10.
To contribute to IEP/student support team processes as needed.

To work with family members to assure continuity of health care between school and
home.

To ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
13.
To review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related
to job responsibility.

To maintain a monthly report of activities.

To perform assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

To perform tasks with a high standard of quality.
17.
To perform other duties deemed appropriate by the Principal, Health Services
Coordinator for Students with Disabilities, and Director of ESE.
