JOB GOAL
To facilitate FDLRS services to families of children with disabilities.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Parent of a child with a disability preferred.
Experience in parent training with all age groups and exceptionalities.
Experience in building parent relationships and working with parent support groups.
Knowledge of agencies and services for children with special needs.
Ability to network with parents and professionals
Computer knowledge.
Flexible schedule to allow for parents schedules.
T.A.B.E. test or successful completion of one (1) year of college work.
Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*1.
To assist parents in understanding the process needed to advocate for their child with
special needs.
*2.
To establish and maintain family support, providing information concerning the referral
process.
*3.
To plan and coordinate educational opportunities for families and service providers.
*4.
To develop or utilize materials that facilitate parents and professionals working through
the system more effectively.
*5.
To participate in community meetings to expand collaboration in the district.
*6.
To assist parent groups in locating and accessing resources.

To attend appropriate workshops, conferences and seminars, and provide training as
needed.

To implement the objectives of the FDLRS/Galaxy grant and assist in the collection of

To perform assigned tasks with a high standard of quality.
12.
To perform other duties as assigned by the coordinator of FDLRS/Galaxy.
