Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, business administration, architecture or community development. 2. Minimum of five (5) years experience in planning, management or communications. 3. Knowledge of computing technologies and software applications appropriate to the responsibilities of the position. 4. Evidence of strong communications skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and agencies. 5. Registration as an American certified Institute of Planners (ACIP), architect or professional engineer preferred. 6. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position. ______________________________________________________________________________ DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: *1. *2. *3. **4. Coordinate planning activities with regional planning council, metropolitan planning organization and local government to implement and execute the interlocal agreement on intergovernmental planning. Collects, and analyzes demographic data to project school enrollments and to assist in the preparation of annual demographic projections and maintains database of proposed and approved residential development and school capacity school concurrency. To assist the Executive Director in working with other departments on gathering, analyzing and organizing data related to the development of short and long-range educational needs, facilities construction, utilization, improvement and expansion plans to meet changing demographic and program needs in the district. To implement and operate the District’s Geographic Information (GIS) including: • Advise the district on GIS software and train staff on the use of GIS software • Maintain the GIS database and system to track development applications and approvals • Coordinate and transfer existing manually maintained paper system into GIS • Design and produce maps using GIS software District Growth Planning Specialist Page 2 *5. *6. To attend, as directed, meetings with various governmental agencies with whom the district is cooperating in the planning process in order to gather information for the Executive Director and to represent the interests of the district. To assist in preparing presentations of information to be shared with appropriate bodies – internal and external to the district – regarding proposed growth management issues. *7.
