The configurations of the rooms in the current buildings do not allow adequate supervision of students by instructors. One building will replace the two and it will contain computer-based classrooms designed to allow student access now and in the future. It will facilitate proper instructor and student interaction. It will be accessible for all students. It will have proper hazardous material storage facilities and include mechanical devices for lifting and moving materials used in the programs. Discussion of Project Quality The College thinks this project is of high quality due to the heavy involvement of the campus community, particularly the faculty, facilities and computer information system staff in the design of this facility. Value engineering both in design and construction has lead to a high quality, fully functional building that will serve the needs of the Welding and Auto Collision Repair programs at BTC. This project allows the College to coordinate like programs in a clustered location, reducing overhead and infrastructure needs and is in accordance with BTC’s long range Master Plan. This facility continues to support BTC’s transformation from a vocational school to a truly collegiate institution. 2 Project Photographs WELDING/AUTO COLLISION BUILDNG 3 4 5 Welding Booth and Tool Area Auto Collision Repair Area 6
