AnExerciseinUnderstandingPreferencesinGroupWork
DevelopedinthefieldbyeducatorsaffiliatedwithNSRF
SimilartotheMyers-BriggsPersonalityInventory,thisexerciseusesasetofpreferenceswhichrelatenotto
individualbuttogroupbehaviors,helpingustounderstandhowpreferencesaffectourgroupwork.
1. Theroomissetupwithfoursignsoneachwall—North,South,EastandWest.
2. Participantsareinvitedtogotothe“direction”oftheirchoice.Nooneisonlyone“direction,”but
everyonecanchooseoneastheirpre-dominantone.
3. Each“direction”answersthefivequestionsonasheetofnewsprint.Whencomplete,theyreportback
tothewholegroup.
4. Processingcaninclude:
